reunited: military homecoming
Posted on May 22, 2011
Good morning to you all!
Here is a sweet family that after 17 months was reunited on Thursday! The husband and wife were reunited first at the airport as you can see in the first photo. Then they picked up their daughter which can be seen in this ABC 11 news story, click this link to view their video. Then the son was picked up from school and was surprised by his Dad at the park. The son’s reaction was so sweet as he ran across the park to hug his Dad, as seen in the middle photo below. Then the last photo is of a family reunited, they all look so happy & complete! I’m very happy for this wonderfully strong family. Hope they’ve had a good weekend back together again! I have many more photos of this reunion but I just wanted to give a quick preview before I head to the homeland of Minnesota tomorrow!
Enjoy your Sunday,

…about to be a family of four! This sweet little family has a lot of changes going on, expecting their second son at the end of July, the first son will be 2 years old in July and the husband/dad is leaving for a year long deployment. That being said, they wanted to get some photos of all of them together before he goes overseas and I hope these photos make them smile over the coming months.
Enjoy this preview and of course your weekend! Samantha
P.S. See you Monday, Minnesota!!!

happy mama’s day!

Dear Dean,
These photos below have captured my feelings about my first mother’s day and the love that I feel for you. The first year of your life has gone by quickly and through the sleepless nights in the beginning I feel as though a lot of our memories are preserved in photographs. Because even through the sleep deprivation I can always remember the feelings surrounding a particular photo. I like these photos (below) for SO many different reasons but mainly because it allowed me to step back and capture a moment in time where your favorite thing to do was look at our front window.
These photos also made me realize, you have the WHOLE world ahead of you—life is just beginning for you (and for us too)! You have had made my life more purposeful since the day you were conceived and everyday since has been a journey unlike any other! The sky is truly the limit for your future, my son. And I will hold on to these photos forever because they remind me of such a sweet time. 11 months old tomorrow! We are so excited for your first birthday parties in MN & NC. I am feeling so many things on my first mama’s day…humbled. proud. amazed. overjoyed and especially blessed. We love and celebrate you everyday, sweet boy!
Happy 1st mama’s day to me!
Love you always,
Mom
I would also like to send some congratulations love to my brother, Andy, for graduating college today! We are so proud of down here in NC and wish we could be there to celebrate with you! See you in a couple weeks!
2 years of Samantha H. Photography!

Good morning all!!
May 5th 2009: I decided to go ahead with my dream of owning a photography business and I just dove right in with the help of supportive family and friends! I can’t believe it’s been 2 years already! In honor of this 2 year celebration I am introducing my new logos, that my lovely friend, Kate, an amazing graphic designer crafted up for me. Although I love the original butterfly logo she made for me in May 2009, it doesn’t fit the feel that Samantha H. as a company has grown into.
I wanted to have something simple/understated basically sticking with the same type of look as the butterfly.I love the green heart as the period and also the logos with my tagline “telling your story as your family grows” because it ties in the “tell your story” approach to my photography. To see the original, “tell your story” post, please click here. Also look above on my menu and click the “tell your story” tab to learn more about my thoughts on life and photography. So there you have it! My new logos are below. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next couple of years!
Thank you to all my old and new clients. I have met SO many amazing people that I wouldn’t have ever known if it wasn’t for photography. And a BIG thank you to everyone that has supported me in this new journey especially to you Kate with all of your design help–what a great friend! Thank you all more than you know!
Happy Cinco de Mayo and have a margarita for me!
What a good day! As always enjoy the day,
Samantha

Last week we took a day trip to Wilmington (Kure Beach) and I just couldn’t resist sharing some of these photos with you. They just capture the day so well as this was Dean’s first time to the ocean. He was soaking in all the sights and sounds. I’m so happy we have these photos to remember it all by. It was a good, good day! Hope you had a nice weekend. ALMOST TIME FOR OUR MINNESOTA TRIP!!
Enjoy, Samantha

first time he saw the ocean and like everything else he had to point at the ocean to make sure I saw it. I love that little pointer finger.

we couldn't believe how close the pelicans were to us. apparently this fisherman on the pier said, "if I had 5 cents for every photo taken of them"...and that's all he said. one can only assume he'd be a rich man if he had 5 cents for every photo!
